Handmade Christmas Tree Skirt

Handmade, Quilted Christmas Tree Skirt

My family always had a handmade Christmas Tree Skirt that was made by my Grandma sitting under our Christmas tree at the holidays.  My Mom still uses the same Tree Skirt under her tree each year!  I love the feelings attached to handmade items from those we love! I made a Christmas Tree Skirt for myself a few years ago, and I had so much fabric left over that I cut extra triangles to make one for my sister!  And now I’m finally getting around to piecing this one together. This is my full tutorial on how to make your own Handmade, Quilted Christmas Tree Skirt!

1 and 3/4 inch x 22 inches x 6 inches, cut 32 out of coordinating fabric
Sew Triangles together
Create a tissue paper template of 8 triangles, be sure to add 1/4 seams to sew each section, use this template to cut out your backing and cotton batting (see video for more detailed instructions)

Over lay batting onto backing. It helps to stitch these two pieces together on the seams to hold them together….then place your pieced Christmas fabric Tree Skirt on top. Then Stitch in the ditch (see video).
Attach bias tape around edge. See video for more details (also see my bias tape tutorial at the bottom of this page for more details).

Here is my beautiful finished Christmas Tree Skirt! It came out beautiful! I know my sister will just love this gift!
